About Us
“From tracking elephants on foot in the deep mopane forests of northern Botswana to the crystal clear lagoons of the Okavango Delta to the eerie calmness and quiet of the Makgadikgadi salt pans, there are very few places where I have not guided guests. My inspiration came from listening to my grandfather’s tales about Zambia: shooting man-eating crocs and catching Nile perch the size of a human.” Clint Gielink
Clint Gielink is a fifth generation African and has 15 years of experience guiding and running mobile camping safaris in Botswana. Pieter Sollitt, Clint’s girlfriend, is a Kiwi (New Zealander) who has lived in Africa for the past decade running lodges and mobile safaris. Together Pieter and Clint are in a position to offer you the safari of a lifetime in exclusive and stunning locations. They offer a unique, tailor-made service, a far cry from the impersonal package safaris that are sadly very common. They guarantee small groups in remote locations, so that you can escape from the crowds and really enjoy the peace and beauty of the pristine Botswana wilderness.
There are two types of safari offered – the Matshwane Safari and the Budget Participation Safari. The former is more up-market and no participation is required; the latter offers a chance to get involved in setting up a camp in the bush. Both are tailored to suit your needs, with flexible dates and routes and small groups of 2 – 6 guests. Whichever safari you opt for, you will have a first rate guide, excellent food, dramatic landscapes and amazing wildlife sightings, combining to make your safari into the ultimate African experience.
Clint is well aware that the most important component of a first-class safari is the guide. He will ensure that you have an experienced guide with a passion for Botswana - both its wilderness and its people.
Going on a safari with Okavango Expeditions is about much more than just the opportunity to see stunning wildlife in its natural setting. It’s also about sitting around a camp fire in the middle of the bush, having just eaten a delectable meal, listening to the distant roar of a lion, smelling the indescribable scent of the bush at night, going to sleep under beautiful stars and the excitement of not knowing what spectacular experiences you might have the next day.
