Commonly Asked Questions
How close will we be to nature?
Fall asleep to the calls of the wild and wake up to the warmth and light of the African sun streaming into your tent. Awaken your senses with the smell of the first rains, soothing African breezes and breath-taking sunsets. A mobile safari allows you to get up close and personal to the miracle of nature. Exhilarating!
How remote will the areas that we visit be?
The mobility of the camp allows access to remote wilderness areas and enables you to visit a diversity of locations on one safari, ensuring that you get a thorough taste of all that Botswana has to offer.

Is this a true safari?
Follow in the footsteps of the first explorers and experience Africa in time-honoured safari style. Leave behind all reminders of modern life and journey back to the true essence of Africa.
How important is the guide?
You will be accompanied by a personal guide for the duration of your safari. Your guide will therefore get to know what your interests and needs are and can build on them as you move from area to area. Our guides are dedicated professionals responsible for interpreting the sights and sounds encountered on your journey, thereby enhancing your experience.
Will my safari be exclusive?
While on safari with Okavango Expeditions, you will be assured complete exclusivity. Each safari is tailor-made to accommodate the personal tastes and interests of individual guests.
What about comfort?
The term ‘camping safari’ often conjures up images of bad food, dirty clothes and daily discomfort. This is a common misconception. An expedition into the African bush does not mean that you must forego certain comforts. A Matshwane Safari with Okavango Expeditions offers the promise of comfortable beds, wholesome home cooked cuisine and personal service. The Budget Participation Safari, although less luxurious, will still provide you with everything you need in terms of comfort.

How will you ensure our safety?
Each vehicle is equipped with satellite phone communication to guarantee rapid contact with our Maun base. Our guides carry a first aid kit at all times and have been trained in its use. In Maun, a medical evacuation team is on call 24 hours a day, ready to spring into action at any time. Your safety is paramount to us at all times.
